We celebrated our son's 7th birthday last Sunday and instead of gifts we asked for donations to a local animal shelter (his choice of organization). Incredibly, due to the generosity of the parents, we raised over $300.00!! Families also donated bags of dog and cat food and some other items the shelter lists on their site. Today we'll take a trip over to the shelter to drop off the donations. He is thrilled. I'm hoping it will be a birthday he never forgets. paz, k
