found this bed on the haute living site. love it! I think it would work well in most any room decor, from modern to a splendid mix of styles. pretty dreamy.
in the little yellow cottage on nolan street the pie came to life. we washed, dried and picked out the stems. then i made a bed for those little berries to bake in. (ok, the crust isn't mine but I rolled it out.)
we made 3 pies in 3 days. a little overboard? maybe but blueberry season doesn't last long and it truly has become one of my favorite times of the year.
with a little lemon, a sprinkle of flower, a dash of sugar and some cinnamon my dream came true.
pure heaven. (notice we didn't have a pie dish so I just used the baking pan instead. nothing was going to stop me!!) paz, k
so we picked and picked and ate and picked until our stomachs hurt and the sun burned our faces. I was on a mission. I wanted to gather enough for pie and smoothies and jams for the entire winter! what a day! it was bliss and for just a moment made me consider leaving suburbia behind and buying a little blueberry farm like this one - something so simple that makes so many people happy.
I have never been blueberry picking before so I didn't know what to expect. were there thorns on the bushes? would we have to hunt for the little blue delights? how would we know when they were ready for picking? well, it was just another example of the infinite miracles on this earth. the berries practically fell into our hands. they were big, dark blue and oh so sweet. the kids were expert pickers within 15 minutes. these snaps are just the beginning. we went back the next day for more! how could we not?!! it was one of my favorite memories - ever.
we change the pages of an art calendar everyday and today is a photo of paper cutouts by alexanderrodchenko. I don't know anything about him but I am curious...found these photographs of the early 20th c russian painter, sculptor, and I think, magician. marvelous.
have a weekend of great discovery...or just find a nook to devour a long neglected magazine. paz, k
we are still in michigan and I have made too many blueberry pies. they truly did stain my teeth and made my tongue blue! well, after we went blueberry picking and collected almost 15 pounds of berries I felt pie was necessary. photos to come. I forgot my cord to download snaps! been thinking about fall clothes for the kids. mostly they just wear cute hand-me-downs from neighbors but I do love little girl fashion. so fun. enjoy!
tea collection is my favorite. the girls often refuse to wear the few items I've purchased for them. ugh. oh well. aren't they darling - and so very sophisticated-cool?
abigail heche is the sister of actress anne heche and she has the most wonderful jewelry shop in lakeside, mi. it has a big pink awning and is the size of a hot dog stand. maybe it was at one time. it is located directly on red arrow highway and today I stopped in to see what pretties she had. oh, they are lovely! I bought a silver piece she calls shield of faith. she explained that all that comes towards us first meets our faith, our shield. I love that. her site is wonderful!
we are headed to michigan for some final days in the sun before school begins. I foresee lots of blueberry picking, digging our toes in the sand and swimming in the blue waters of lake michigan. I've been reading some greek myths to my son. he likes to think of zeus as an early superhero with buckets of lightning bolts always by his side - ready for action. I suppose he's right. I love the story of aphrodite rising from the sea. the image above is a fresco from pompei. amazing!
