three pies...

in the little yellow cottage on nolan street the pie came to life. we washed, dried and picked out the stems. then i made a bed for those little berries to bake in. (ok, the crust isn't mine but I rolled it out.)

we made 3 pies in 3 days. a little overboard? maybe but blueberry season doesn't last long and it truly has become one of my favorite times of the year.
with a little lemon, a sprinkle of flower, a dash of sugar and some cinnamon my dream came true.

pure heaven. (notice we didn't have a pie dish so I just used the baking pan instead. nothing was going to stop me!!) paz, k

berry bliss...

so we picked and picked and ate and picked until our stomachs hurt and the sun burned our faces. I was on a mission. I wanted to gather enough for pie and smoothies and jams for the entire winter! what a day! it was bliss and for just a moment made me consider leaving suburbia behind and buying a little blueberry farm like this one - something so simple that makes so many people happy.

thanks for your wonderful notes! paz, k

blueberries for pie...

I have never been blueberry picking before so I didn't know what to expect. were there thorns on the bushes? would we have to hunt for the little blue delights? how would we know when they were ready for picking? well, it was just another example of the infinite miracles on this earth. the berries practically fell into our hands. they were big, dark blue and oh so sweet. the kids were expert pickers within 15 minutes. these snaps are just the beginning. we went back the next day for more! how could we not?!! it was one of my favorite memories - ever.

hope you are well today! paz, k
